FreshHUBS’ programming and community events bring parallel nutrition through hyperlocal produce and produce boxes sourced from local and BIPOC growers, delivered to partner schools, health systems, food equity enterprises, and community members in hard-to-count (HTC) or vulnerable communities. Each program, FreshHABITS, FreshScript, and PA Sustainable, bolsters communities’ health, sustainability, and resiliency with wraparound nutrition education and support services to ALL community members.
Across the nation, from large cities to rural areas, food insecurity remains significantly above pre-pandemic levels. The loss of jobs, decades of economic disinvestment, and gaps in the food supply chain have left many American communities unnecessarily ill, creating a need for access to quality, healthy food sources in vulnerable, marginalized communities.
FreshHUBS food centers alleviate food insecurity by addressing America's food supply chain from food sources to communities' needs, bridging food access gaps by supplying thousands of weekly fresh produce boxes, creating economic investment through job creation and workforce development at FreshHUBS locations, and supporting health equity and nutrition security through prescription produce and nutrition programs. Each hub offers its parallel nutrition program at NO cost to community members, and All FreshHUBS and its programs are 100% funded by public, private, and philanthropic sources and donations.
